30.06.2004 *Stop Press*

Bad news… just heard the littleun has slipped again and been put on a drip for some reason. Poor little sod. Let's hope she gets well soon hey? In other news… the design of the site has now been updated. I've gone grungy again peeps! I've had to disable a lot of the pages for a bit while I update the rest of the site, but it should all be back to normal by the end of the week.

30.06.2004 Cheesy Beans!

I have a new favourite snack - Cheesy Bean flavoured Mini Chedders. They're pure heaven in a foil sealed bag, fresh, tasty and most of all cheesy! I went to see my neice in hospital last night, she's on the mend now, but been in hospital for a few nights with kidney problems. Poor little bugger.

Speaking of the little bugger… she's now mastered the art of saying my girlfriends name, all we hear now when we see her is this shrill little voice yelling “Stephanie” over and over and over again. It's enough to make someone want to change their name!

29.06.2004 *yawn*

Holy crap… I'm absolutly knackered today. I really shouldn't have stayed up late last night watching The Fifth Element, but it's just a cool film and once it started I couldn't pull myself away! On the subject of TV i just heard someone use the phrase “pissed off” at 2 minutes past seven in the evening. I thought the watershed was 9pm? Looks like it's slipping or do they not count “piss” as swearing nowadays?

I mean… I know swearing is more acceptable nowdays, but that surely doesnt mean it's right does it? Still… I'm a foul mouthed muthafucka and I blame that on my parents letting me watch 18 rated movies when I was young (I was about 8 the first time I saw RoboCop, and it was the full unedited version where they show his hand being shot up, not the crappy tamed down for TV version).

This has left me as a hard edged sonofabitch, shocked by nothing and swearing is part of my everyday vocab. I'd love to quit the swearing but it's been in a part of my life for so long. One day… maybe when I have kids and have to set an example.

28.06.2004 The Fifth Element Rocks!

I'm just sat watching The Fifth Element on ITV. It's a classic film, it's just a shame that so many people don't get it and think it's a bit tacky pile of crap. These people are wrong. Fact is, The Fifth Element is a 20th Century classic. The film has brilliant casting, amazing direction, great music (listen to the score when Dallas shoves the army blokes in the fridge, it's simple but adds a subtle flavour to the scene) and the set's and costumes are beyond belief.

The thing about the Fifth Element is that it's enjoyable to watch, unlike films like The Matrix, Starwars etc I can sit through this film time and time again without getting bored and each time I watch it I notice something new that I havent heard before. Why? because it's brilliantly simple. No complex twists, technobabble or hidden depths. Just pure stylish sci-fi, just like it's supposed to be.

Shall I tell you how much I love this film? I want my first born daughter to be named Leeloo. (I know it looks daft, but say it a few times… it grows on you!).

26.06.2004 Maybe it's because im a londoner…

Or maybe it's because i'm not.

wow aint it been ages since i last posted… So what's happening now then, well lets see ummmmmmmmmmmmm, not a lot. I'm still with Steph and loving every minute of it! Yesterday i drove down to Heathrow with Steph, Cat (stephs sister) and Chris (stephs sisters blokey) to see off Jenny (Stephs other sister. Jen's off to Australia for a year on some weired back packing holiday thing with her blokey Doug, anyways hung about for a bit then saw them off, the lasses were in tears and it was all very emotional. Still it was better than going to work!

Apart from that not much of any interest has really happened over the last few days!! (well not that i can post here anyway…)

25.06.2004 Swollen Balls…

I… Am… Angry… Stupid… Bloody… Ref. Grrrr. Ok… we lost. That's all I'm gonna say about last night's england v portugal match. I'm sure if you wanna read peoples opinions there are plenty of other blogs for it. I can't be arsed.

24.06.2004 Back in the Grunge…

I've got a new design for GreenDezire on the way… it's gonna be grungy, punk and damn dirty to boot. You guys are gonna have to wait and see what it looks like, but I'll tell ya one thing. It aint gonna be boxy like the current design! Hold on to your seats… it's gonna be a bumpy ride kids!

23.06.2004 It's growing on me…

Ok, ok… I take back what I said about the cat. After nearly a week living together he's growing on me. Despite the scratchy claws and the fact he insists on attacking my feet when I'm trying to sleep he's really quite cute. I'm not saying *all* cats are nice, because like dogs, plenty of them are horrid, but this particular cat isn't all bad. While I'm here, here's a message to email marketers. If your going to send me a newsletter with hyperlinks to articles on the web for the love of god please set the target of the link to “_blank”.

I'm the kind of person who always has multiple instances of my web browser open. I'll have a website open in one, my webmail account in another and my CMS system in another, MySQL admin in another and so on and so forth. So I'll be working away and the helpful email notification icon appears in the bottom right of my screen, I'm an email addict and can't help but check it out, so I take a look. It's a newsletter from the good folks at sitepoint.com and theres a nice link to an article on their site. “click here to read more” it says. So I do, and lo and behold 5 minutes work in my CMS gone in a second.

Some people will say it's my fault for not saving my work, they're not wrong, but if publishers just spend a few minutes getting their links to open in a new window I wouldn't have the problem any more. It's not a lot to ask for… is it?

Coincidently, somewhere hidden away in the dark recesses of Outlook Express there is an option to open all links in new windows, why the boffins at Microsoft decided not to include it in Outlook XP is beyond me. Silly Boffins.

18.06.2004 I Hate Cats

Cat's are evil, evil creatures. Not as evil as clowns, but definatly more evil than candyfloss. Why the sudden hatred of cats? Because for the first time ever I'm having to live with one. My girlfriends sister has buggered off to greece and left us house/cat sitting.

Harry (the cat) is hell bent on driving me to an early grave. He started off yesterday by sneaking up behind the chair I was sitting on and pouncing on me TWICE! then later on he snuck a viscous white cat into the house who hissed at me every time i tried to clear it out.

Then, just as I was drifting off to sleep Harry decides to jump onto my pillow and once again scare the crap out of me. Of course, that wasn't enough for Harry… oh no. The little fiend then proceeded to walk over my face at leat 4 times during the night, waking me on each occasion.

I swear… I'm buying a fricking bell for that cat so I can hear it coming and tonight I'm sleeping with the door shut.
