26.08.2004 Things Can Only Get Better
I got some brilliant news yesterday! An insurance claim I started nearly two years ago for damages after an accident I had on a roundabout in Worcester has *finally* been resolved! I got a call from my friendly solicitor yesterday telling me that the other insurance company settled before going to court and a compensation cheque worth over 2 grand is in the post. WOOO HOOO! that's really going to help with the cost of moving in and getting settled. In the words of the immortal Chandler Bing “could I BE any happier?”
Of course… tomorrow is D-Day. The day I stop being a child and become a man. in fact technically speaking i become THE man - well… the man of the house anyway. ;o)
Unfortunatly, that means until my ADSL is active and I've moved the computer to the new pace my blog entries are going to be thin on the ground. (phone line goes in on the 7th + 7 days for ADSL to be activated means I should be back by around the 14th September).
I'm gonna miss you guys! ;o)

25.08.2004 Lefty or Righty?
Was feeling bored at lunch today, so I wrote a little css style switcher and twatted about with my stylesheet for a bit. You can now choose between lefty or righty. You'll need to have cookies enabled for it to work, but you have to be pretty lame anyway to be suffering from cookie paranoia! I've added links to the different stylesheets on the left menu (entitled “Switch Em!”) so feel free to have a play and pick your fave. (btw… if you switch stylesheets the left menu, may actually be on the right, but you know what I mean…)
Hopefully I'll create some really kewl alternative style sheets for people who arent too fond of my current layout. (The layout is completly 100% css driven, so there should never be a need for me to fook with the html much ever again!).
Drop your suggestions for my next theme in the comments and I'll see what I can do.

25.08.2004 Getting Closer
I'm really shitting myself now. Only two whole days before we make the move! Eeeeek! There is one downside to me moving. I'm off work for two weeks starting Friday and I'll be away from my blog for sometime. The flat doesn't yet have a phoneline enabled and that won't be switched on until the 7th of September. Then it's going to take a further 7 days(ish) for the ADSL to be switched on. (I'm getting a 1meg account this time! - more expensive, but twice as fast as normal ADSL, plus theres no download limit! wooo!).
Because I still have my businesses to run, I'll be popping back to the old place from time to time which is where my computer will be staying for a while to process orders and whatnot and I'll try to blog if I get time, but I can't make any promises. Normal service should be resumed by the middle of September.
To keep you guys coming back for more I might prewrite and postdate a few entries for you to read while I'm gone. Just little snippets so my site doesn't go stagnant. You can relax for now though, cos you've got another two days to suffer me for yet!
Before I sign off for the night, I came across this pic today. It appears to be a photo of Rich before his monthly back wax. ;o)

24.08.2004 I See Light!
Is it wrong to whistle the theme from The Great Escape while taking a dump?
I'm pretty sure it's not right to compare British soldiers escaping from a prisoner of war camp with faecal matter escaping from my arsehole but it's an interesting image non the less.
Enjoy your tea everyone!

24.08.2004 Age Sex Location?
Blame this on Rachel
What internet acronym are you?
brought to you by Quizilla Don't you just hate it when you take these quizzes and they reveal hidden truths about you that you'd rather not admit? This is one of those!
I only ever used to use chatrooms to pull women. It's sad, but when I was younger I wasn't as confident as I am now and I didn't have many females in my social circles and I was far too much of a geek for girls from other groups to show interest so I really didnt have much of a choice. Talking to girls in chatrooms and meeting up with them gave me the experience to figure out the female phenomenon and it really did help.
This is nothing to brag about, but during my “dating years” (that is, before I settled down) I met up with about 10 different girls off the internet and slept with at least 3 or 4 of them. I'm quite ashamed to admit this, but I lost my virginity to a girl I met in a chatroom.
I'm going to stop talking now.

23.08.2004 Laminate Dreams
I have a sneaking suspiscion that I may be a bit nervous about moving into our new flat. Last night I went to bed nice and early. Partially because I'd been drunk on and off for two days and partially because I was just plain old tired (one of the drawbacks of cutting caffine from your diet: when tiredness kicks in, theres not a lot you can do about it!). Anyhow… I went to bed and thought I'd soon drop off to sleep. Except sleep didn't seem to come easy. Rather than let me sleep, my brain decided it was appropriate to keep me awake and make me worry about how I was going to lay the laminate flooring in the hall, specifically how I was going to get straight planks of wood to bend around that nasty 45 degree bend near the front door.
I'm not a handyman… not by a longshot, but we don't have the budget to hire someone to do the work for us, so the missus has decided we're doing it for ourselves. Why oh why can't we just have carpet like normal people?
In many ways I know I shouldn't be nervous about moving house, but this is a big deal. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of debt, phone bills, electricity, gas, furniture and boxes up to the ceiling all have to be organised/moved.
Still… only four days remaining and then it's happening. Friday the 27th August 2004 I collect the keys and move into my first home. My guts are in knots just thinking about it.

21.08.2004 Wicked Choons
I came across a brilliant new song yesterday. It's called “Slide Along Side” and it's by Shifty. For those of you who don't know, Shifty Shellshock is the guy who rapped along to “Butterflys” with the band Crazy Town, and was also the guest vocalist on “Starry Eyed Surprise” by Paul Oakenfold (which was *the* summertime dance track of 2002). This is yet another happy summertime pop/rap song, but any song that puts a smile on my face is bound to get me listening to it time and time again!
I betcha any money, Rich will love this track when he hears it!
I know it's now Saturday, but heres the Friday Feast:
Appetizer What does the color pink make you think of?
Candyfloss. Yum! Pink fluffy, sugary candyfloss! mmmmmmmm YUM!
Soup Name something you have lost but later found.
My camera! I lost my digital camera a few weeks back. Turned out the girlfriends mother had “put it away” in a draw in the hall. Why would somebody do that?
Salad In 3 words, describe this past week.
Exciting / Chaotic / Scary
Main Course What are you obsessed with?
Blogging! What else? Oh that and cheesecake. ;o)
Dessert What kind of perfume or cologne do you like to wear?
None! I'm quite happy with my natural, sweaty, musky smell!

21.08.2004 Scary Times
This website scares the holy bejesus out of me. Now I know it's probably a bit of scaremongering, and loads of people have said this kind of stuff before, but the science seems to be there. 2012? I won't have even finished paying the mortgage by then!
This part is a bit freaky… apparently, the author reckons humans evolved in an aquatic environment, rather than on land. Sound's weired, but if you read his theorys it seems to be highly likely!

21.08.2004 Bad Vibes
I fell out with the missus last night. Of all the stupid things we could disagree over we had an argument about money. I think this may be a serious case of pre-moving in nerves, we're both stressing over the amount of money we'll be forking out every month and theres a still so much to do before we move in. Suddenly we've gone from excited to stressed in a matter of minutes. I think I'm going to have to do some sucking up to get us both back in a good mood again in time to move in… what do you guys reckon? flowers, chocolates or wine? How about all three… that should do the job! ;o)
