27.03.2006 On the Move?

I’ve just been looking at the offerings from American hosting provider Dreamhost and I’m seriously considering moving my site to them. For around ???7 a month I can have a hosting account that has way more facilities than my current provider and comes with Apache webserver and cronjobs, which will mean I can turn on the URL rewriting in WordPress and do email posting as well.
I really don’t know how these hosting companies survive. 20Gb of diskspace and 1Tb of data transfer a month is just insane. I know bandwidth and computers are cheaper in the states than in the UK but these figures are scary mad (especially when they have monthly increases)!
The facilities that Dreamhost offer seem to blow damn near every UK hosting provider out of the water. I like having a UK host because they’re easy to get hold of when things go wrong, but for a personal site like this, I’m really tempted to take the risk for the extra functionality and switch (I can always move back if neccessary).

Has anyone got any experience with Dreamhost? All the reviews I can find seem to be positive but would like to hear peoples experiences before I take the risk…

UPDATE: I have now moved my site to ECWHost following from a reccomendation. The packages aren’t quite as generous as those available on Dreamhost, but all the extra functionality that I need is all here, so I’m happy as larry. (Look at the URL’s! go mod_rewrite! woo!) :D

    I live in the US, but have a WordPress site on http://www.ecwhost.com, in the UK. You might check them out the service is good. I get nothing for the referral.
