28.07.2006 Yay! New Camera is here!
I’m very happy! Despite sony updating their website to say my order wouldn’t be shipped until Mid August, I’ve just received my brand new Sony Alpha100 Digital SLR. It’s a world apart from the F828, so I have a lot to learn, but I’m going to stick with it.
I’ll let you know how I get on…

I’ve just been reading an article on The Register. Apparently India has rejected the idea of one laptop per child but the Nigerian Government has ordered a million units. If the history of computer using Nigerians is anything to go by that can only mean one thing for the rest of the world, which is more scam emails. Damn.

20.07.2006 Damn Banks
I’m not one to normally talk about money, but this last month I went a little bit overboard and went slightly over my agreed overdraft limit. Fair enough, my mistake, I’ll except the (stupid) charges but what I really detest is that today I received two letters from my bank.
The first was advising me that charges were due to be applied to my account for being overdrawn and that I shouldn’t buy anything from my cards or withdraw money until the overdraft is back in the black. The second was an advertising leaflet asking me if I want to borrow more money.
How dumb is that? Grrrrr.

11.07.2006 Do you remember… Large coke cans?
After discovering that Nestle have removed the blue Smarties from their sweets me and the missus have been discussing sweets that we had as kids that you can’t buy any more.
Once of the things I remember is before the advent of plastic bottles being able to buy coca-cola in large (1pint-ish) cans. The missus doesn’t remember them and doesn’t believe that they were ever on sale. I’m sure I remember buying them as a kid, so please help prove me right… do you remember these being on sale? Please leave a comment and let me know!

11.07.2006 Fuck You Stupid Fucking Bug!
My super immune system never ceases to impress me. Last night I went to bed with all of the typical symptoms of a flu type illness, this morning after a pretty rough night of tossing and turning, I woke up feeling almost perfect except for a slightly croaky throat.
Incidentally, I passed my ITIL foundation exam with flying colours, scoring a total of 34/40, which equates to approximately 85% and 10 marks more than I needed to pass.
Also, last week I treated myself to a real Digital SLR as the F828 was starting to feel lacking in a few areas. Because I’m familiar with Sony gear I’ve gone for the all new Sony Alpha 100, which is Sony’s first ever DSLR but is basically just an upgraded version of Konica Minolta’s previous camera (as they’ve gone bust and Sony bought all the rights to their stuff).
I’ve gone all out and bought the version with two separate lenses which should hopefully give me enough to play with to keep my gadget lust quiet until the PS3 comes out, although I have been fantasising about getting my paws on a Holga, but they’re relatively cheap in comparison.

10.07.2006 Bloody Typical
Tomorrow I have my ITIL exam that I’ve been revising for weeks for but this last couple of days I’ve been screwed up with a head cold. I started out as a lingering headache that no amount of drugs would shift, then late on today has turned into tiredness and achey bones.
How unfair is that? Fucking stupid bugs.
Still… the exam is quite straight forward, with 40 multiple choice questions and having to get 24 to pass. It should be a doddle even with a cold.
