04.09.2006 Crikey!
Today is a sad day for anyone who cares about conservation. Steve Irwin (otherwise known as ‘the crocodile hunter’) has today been reported to have died while filming a new show. It’s said that he was doing a peice with stingrays when one fired it’s barb through his chest and into his heart.
Normally the barb would inject enough poison to make you extremely uncomfortable but not enough to kill you (in fact, only one person has ever died from a stingray attack!). Sadly the barb penetrated his heart leaving the equivilent of a stab wound from a large knife.
Steve had used much of the money from his TV shows setting up conservation parks in his native Australia as well as the well known ‘Australia Zoo’ and regually put his life on the line to relocate sick and or endangered crocs.
His official website is currently down due to massive load but I’m sure it’s just because people want to get the official word on the matter and pass their thoughts to the family at this sad time.
You know, normally I don’t really care that much if a celeb snuffs it, but this guy did so much for the conservation of the planet and was one of the people that made me think about the world in the way that I know see it. He was a legend and I hope that the legend lives on with his two children and they continue his great work.
Steve, may you rest in peice.

You found a great pic there.
My kids cried, so did I. My son said now he won’t get a chance to meet him.
Broke my heart.
