12.04.2007 It’s been a while…

Hey ho boys and girls – I guess it’s been a while since I’ve blogged properly (and we all know that automated del.icou.us crap doesn’t count as blogging!). Please don’t take it personally – I still love you all, I’m just really really busy at the moment. As of this exact second I’m currently:

  • Organising a wedding
  • Moving House
  • Working on Freelance projects
  • Holding down a day job

So i guess you can see why I haven’t really had much time to blog of late and to be honest, it’s probably gonna continue like this for the next few months at the very least.

Anyway… here’s a quick summary of what I’ve been up to lately:

Remember my recent fight with the Alliance and Leicester bank to claim back my bank charges? Well I won! What’s more… I did it WITHOUT having to go to court. Initially I followed the basic instructions and standard pre-written letters provided by the Consumer Action Group which got me through the basic stages but ultimately led to a bunch of standard responses, so I decided to try writing my own letter in the hope that it would stand out in the sea of sea of pre-written letters and for whatever reason – it worked! Alliance & Leicester paid up the full amount that I requested without any argument and I have now been refunded a total of £1600 in bank charges from the last six years! (bizarrely – rather than just send me a cheque for the total the bank refunded each payment individually into my account, which now means the number of pages on my bank statement for this month is likely to run into double figures!). Still – a win is a win, and that’s good enough for me!

Wedding wise, the venue has changed. The missus wasn’t happy with Birtsmorton court and really wanted to get married in a castle, and what the missus wants the missus gets! We’re now getting married at Clearwell Castle in Gloucestershire on August 31st this year. I’m actually getting quite excited about the day – especially now the missus has agreed to let me wear red converse all stars (high tops) with my suit! She wasn’t especially keen to start with, but she eventually caved in.

Anyway… I hope to be back and blogging soon, but if you don’t see me frequently over the next six months – don’t be surprised!

I had been wondering where you were .. I’m quiet myself lately for wholly different reasons but I still read my RSS feeds daily.

Well done on the bank charges refund – I use A+L and they’ve always been very good to me although I’ve never done anything or used any services to require a charge.

So, you’re wearing Coverse All Stars at your wedding and I’m assuming the pageboys will be dressed as Cybermen … ?

Sheesh, that’s a BEAUTIFUL place to get married.

If we ever have a vow renewal ceremony, I’ll have orange Converse under my dress!

And good on ya for getting all the money back from the bank! That’s a nice chunk of change all of a sudden, eh?

@Timmargh – no cybermen planned, but I am trying to get the missus to stomp down the isle to the imperial march from startrek and wear a black dress with the bridesmaids dressed as storm troopers. Don’t think she’s buying it tho! ;)

@Lisa – Thanks – I’ve been trying to find out if I can get on the battlements to pour boiling acid on the guests as they enter (or at least shoot them with a water pistol!). No luck there either it seems!

    Hello Andy,

I am not sure which potential of our client you were when I showed you round my parents house but I am wondering if you can help me. I have been trying to update my Wikipedia entry and typed in Birtsmorton Court History in Google. An excert of your Blog, explaining that your fiance was not happy with Birtsmorton Court because she wanted a Castle has appear as number 4 on the Google search. As an expert in all maters IT I was wondering what you could do to help us remove this article from the Google search because the excert showing in the search unintentionally looks very negative towards my parents home and our business.

I hope you have a fantastic day at Clearwell and that the wedding is everything you both dreamed it would be.

    Regards
