10.07.2007 Shiny & New
After my little failed blog-suicide attempt on Sunday I’ve spent a bit of time thinking about this blog and what it means to m. I’ve come to the realisation that the reason that I started blogging all those years ago was because I wanted to have an opinion that could be heard outside of my usual circles.
Somewhere in the midsts of time, that ideal has been lost and instead of blogging about what I think, I started blogging about what I do, which eventually and inevitably led to this blog becoming a dull series of posts describing how I went to work, went home, got pissed and so on and so forth.
So… from now on I endevour to make this blog a more interesting read and I’m going to start by turning off the daily link posts from del.icio.us. While it’s quite useful to have them available to the public, the whole daily posting thing is getting on my nerves – once a week would be great, but once a day is too much. I’ll probably post a manual summary of the best links I find each month rather than letting del.icio.us automate it for me. Then again, I may not… it depends how I feel.
That reminds me actually… How hard would it be for del.icio.us to give you the option to choose other posting schedules? Surely it’s just a case of assigning the right ‘thingy’ (their term, not mine) to the correct cron job? Lazy bastards.
Oh yeah… in case you hadn’t noticed, I quickly knocked up a new design. It’s very simple compared to my previous efforts – I wanted something that would allow people to form an opionion of me based on my words, rather than the design of the site.
I still have a few tweaks to make, but it’s mostly done already, just need to tidy up the odd bit here and there.
In completely separate and unrelated news, It’s less than two months until D-day – the day of the wedding. The day I lose my soul to the woman I love. Time has certainly flown since we first set a date and found the venue. Am I excited? Hell yes! Am I nervous? Most definitely.Marriage is one of those things that I never thought I would be that excited about, yet here I am, getting really excited about the impending nuptials.Of course… apart from the actual day, organising a wedding is actually a total pain in the ass. There’s so many things to arrange, people to keep happy, fittings to arrange, planning sessions to have and worst of all – bills to pay.
Don’t get me started on the cost of getting married! My advice to anyone thinking about getting married is to firstly set a budget and once that budget it decided make sure you’ve saved up at least that before you start actually planning the wedding. I thought we had enough saved up, but I must have forgotten that my missus has expensive taste!

I do like the new design! Very clean!
You and I have been around for quite some time. How come we’re not more well known?
