23.11.2007 Don’t Call, Don’t Write, Don’t Email…
Cos this weekend, I’ll be rocking out with Guitar Hero III on my Xbox 360!

I’ve been a big fan of the GH series, ever since having a go on the original at a friends house a couple of years back. The game was nothing short of amazing and I had loads of fun playing but never got around to purchasing my own copy as I wasn’t really playing my PS2 all that much at that time.
Then I purchased the Xbox 360 Elite earlier this year I was gagging to get my hands on it -only problem being, Guitar Hero II had been out for months by this point and I knew GHIII was just a couple of short months away and came with an awesome wireless guitar, so i forced myself to hold off for a bit and wait for the new version.
I placed my pre-order a couple of weeks back and today finally, Guitar Hero III was released in the UK. Cash wise, I’m a bit skint at the moment, but luckily had plenty of GAME gift cards from my birthday last Friday and a few quid spare on my game membership card, so I only ended up paying £10 of my own money (the game costs £75).
Now all that remains is to get through another 6 hours of work and then I can go home and rock out to some great metal choonage! I think I’ll stay away from the online play for a couple of weeks, cos I’m likely to get pwned until I get a grasp of the controls.
Rock Mayhem here I come!

22.11.2007 My Hamster Died

Today is a sad day for me as my hamster Minni has passed away. I came home from work this evening and found her cold and unresponsive in her nest. Usually, she wakes up at the slightest sound of me in the vicinity in the hope of a treat, but sadly tonight that wasn’t to be.
It appears that she passed away peacefully in her sleep as she was curled up with her eyes closed inside her nest, she looked exceptionally cosy – I guess it’s the best way she could have gone.
Minni was the first hamster that I raised in my own home since getting my own place, she was sweet and inquisitive but wouldn’t stand for any nonsense – if she didn’t want to play she would let you know with a gentle nip. I guess that’s why I didn’t give her as much attention as perhaps I should have done. That said, she would always come down from her nest to say hello whenever I was near (probably more for a treat than for the conversation, but considering the circumstances, I’ll let that slide).
She has left behind Maxx, her long time friend, ball running partner and next door neighbour who seems very melancholy since she passed away, who knows, maybe hamsters grieve too.
Rest in peace Minni.
09.11.2007 Tip – Always beat Pro S.K.A.T.E challenges in EA Skate!
Do you find yourself struggling the pro S.K.A.T.E challenges in EA Skate? Well struggle no more – I’ve found an easy way to beat them nearly all of the time of the time and I can summarise it in 3 numbers – 5-4-0!
A more lengthy explanation is that to beat the pro’s, all you have to do is perform a trick that they can’t possibly do but you can land every time, the good old 540 spin. To perform the 540, simply push off twice, do your standard flip trick (or normal ollie/nollie) and then immediately push BOTH of your sticks in the same direction (left or right). This will give you the extra 180 degrees to turn your 360 into a 540 and for some reason, the pro’s just never seem to be able to land a 540 without bailing or screwing up the trick!
Of course, this does rely on the Pro fouling up so that you can lead the way, but they do this surprisingly often, and if they don’t then don’t worry – you just go again, sooner or later they WILL screw up, and using this foolproof method you can always beat them.
This tip should work on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Skate.
PS – Ea skate rocks – if you haven’t played it yet, you should give it a go!
08.11.2007 Feeling Zen (Photo)
I recently discovered ZenPhoto while researching gallery systems for an upcoming website I’ll be working on for a photographer friend of mine and I have to say, I’m impressed, ZenPhoto is everything I would ever want in a gallery system – it’s simple, clean and standards compliant. Unlike a lot of the alternatives out there, ZP isn’t bloated and stuffed full of crap features that only a minority will ever use – what’s more, the templating system is VERY easy to use – I’m writing a custom theme for this new project and it’s really not at all difficult.
Anyway… ZenPhoto rocks – check it out if you happen to be looking for a gallery system for your website.

01.11.2007 Brilliant News…

I think this must possibly be the best news I have heard in a long long time. The homophobic Westboro Baptist Church (who’s motto is “God Hates Fags”) have been fined over £5 million GBP ($10.9 million USD) in a US court for picketing the funeral of a US military officer. This fine has officially bankrupted their Leader “Reverand” Fred Phelps who’s net worth is considerably less than the amount they have been fined.
Hopefully, now this case has been won and precedent has been set, the families of the other 300+ servicemen who this mob have hassled over the last couple of years can all do the same and take that fine up by a substantial amount, effectively suing these homophobic scumbags off the face of the planet.
